How will the coronavirus influence your housing search

At Kamernet, your well-being comes first. Due to the recent outbreak of the coronavirus, the Dutch government has taken some strict precautions to prevent further spreading of the virus. We understand that you may have some questions regarding the virus and the influence it has on your search for a new home in the Netherlands.

Number of available homes unaffected
Here at Kamernet, we aim to assist you in your search for a home as best as we can. Despite the recent outbreak of the coronavirus, the number of available homes on Kamernet still lies above 4000. Meaning that you can continue your search for a home on our website

The new approach: Home-viewings
It is still possible to attend home viewings. However, should you be unable to attend a home-viewing in person or not feel comfortable attending a viewing due to the coronavirus, we completely understand. In that case, you can ask the landlord to show you the home through a video-call. During the video call, you can ask any questions you may have about the property. This way, you’ll know exactly what to expect. All landlords on Kamernet have been made aware of the possibilities regarding video-viewings and we advise both parties to use one of the following free options:

It could also be possible that a landlord or roommate invites you to a live group viewing. You can attend this group viewing via Facebook and ask any questions you may have about the property by leaving a comment.

Note: you need to have a strong internet connection when placing or receiving group calls. A bad internet connection will affect the quality of the video call.

A secure end to your search: Digital payments
Besides digitally viewing the home, you can also digitally transfer the rent/deposit securely. This way, you can bring your entire search to a safe end without having to leave the house. If you don’t feel comfortable transferring money to the landlord, because you haven’t seen the house in real life, you can use RentOK to transfer the rent or deposit. This way, the money will be temporarily put in a third party account at Online Betaalplatform. The money will only be transferred to the landlord after you have received the key to your new home. Meaning a bit more security for both you and the landlord!
