I’m Selma — 20 years old, part Greek and part Albanian (I’ve got both passports) and I moved to Amsterdam almost two years ago. I speak English, Albanian, Greek & Italian fluently and can understand a fair bit of Spanish and some Dutch as well. I work full-time in hospitality: I’m a tour guide at the Rijksmuseum and also do front office shifts at two hostels. Life stays busy, but I’m used to it. Living solo gets lonely, and it’s just not worth throwing money at. I thought having my own place in the center was the ultimate flex, but I realized it’s not really it, especially for someone like me who’s still figuring out where life will take me after these next few years I plan on spending in Amsterdam. Another big reason I’m looking to switch is to be smarter with my money — I’d rather invest in experiences that actually make me happy, like traveling or the occasional festivals. I don’t throw house parties and I don't go out much aside from events here and there. I do occasionally host friends from abroad (just a couch and good vibes — nothing disruptive). I’m clean, chill, and respectful — I believe in creating the kind of environment I’d want to live in, and I treat others the way I’d expect to be treated. Beste, I am an Indonesian living in France, and am relocating to the Netherlands to continue PhD while keeping my stable entrepreneurial side job. To summarise, currently I am making around €4000++ gross per month (and some will benefit from 30% ruling) with a high chance for extra income in the future (my increase + partner’s income).
