I am a 24-year-old Canadian law student from Toronto. I have been in Groningen since August 2025. I came to Groningen as part of my Canadian University’s partnership with RUG that allowed me to finish my Canadian Juris Doctor degree and enabled me to get an LLM at RUG. As such, currently, I have completed the Juris Doctor degree and am wrapping up my LLM in Law and Technology at the RUG. In Canada, the study of law is exclusively a graduate study. As a result, I also have an Undergraduate Degree from the University of Toronto. Initially, I planned to go back to Toronto for work after the completion of my study in Groningen. However, I have fallen in love with the city and its walkability/cyclability. As a result, I plan to stay in the city for some time and establish a legal career in Europe. Currently, I am in the process of searching for a legal job. In the meantime, I have lined up some part time work to keep up with expenses. Although surprised, my family is supportive of my decision to stay in Groningen and are willing to act as my financial safety net, if needed. I have been paying 800 EUR for my current SSH accommodation and can provide the receipts. Apart from my study and work-based pursuits, I have kept engaged with hobbies in the city including Salsa and Ballroom dancing. I am also a part of the travel association AEGEE and have taken opportunities to travel across 12 European countries. Additionally, I am currently taking Dutch intensive summer classes. I hope to have at least an A2 level proficiency in the language by the end of this summer.

I work from the office always, and weekends I can be out and about quite a bit. So even if I am probably not going to be around much, I still want to find a place that feels like a home and where people take care of the shared space. I have lived in many different shared houses already, I'm used to it and I'm fairly easy to get along with and adaptable. I am a very clean person (I have a passion for ironing) and also not a great cook (so I won't be taking up many hours the kitchen). I'm into hobbies ranging from french film to house parties. I will talk to my family quite a bit on the phone, but I have learnt to tone down the Spanish volume to acceptable standards. Also, not a smoker! Ik ben 18 jaar, en heb onlangs heb ik mijn vwo-diploma behaald en nu ben ik op zoek naar een fijne kamer om mijn studententijd te starten. In mijn vrije tijd ben ik graag sportief bezig, bijvoorbeeld door te sporten of andere actieve activiteiten te ondernemen. Tegelijkertijd kan ik ook genieten van een rustige middag thuis, bijvoorbeeld met een spelletje of een goede film. Ik zie mezelf als een sociaal, zorgzaam en verantwoordelijk persoon. Ik vind het belangrijk om rekening te houden met anderen en draag graag mijn steentje bij aan het huishouden. Daarnaast sta ik open voor nieuwe ervaringen en leer ik graag nieuwe mensen kennen. Ik voel me meestal snel thuis binnen een groep en vind het leuk om onderdeel uit te maken van een gezellige woonomgeving. Voor mijn studententijd zoek ik een kamer in Delft binnen een huis waar gezelligheid en respect voor elkaar centraal staan.
