8499 Roommates in Netherlands

Hi everyone! I'm Lola, 22 years old and from Vienna, Austria. I'll be moving to the Netherlands at the end of August to get my Masters in Crisis and Security Management at Leiden University (The Hague Campus). Ideally, I'm trying to find a room in a shared apartment/house with roommates or a small apartment/studio either in The Hague, Leiden or Delft to rent for a little more than a year starting mid-August. I'm very excited to be studying "abroad" (or away from home, I guess) again, as I find that experiencing new cultures is one of the best things a young person can do. I'm a huge fan of traveling and I got my Bachelor's degree in the United States, so I think living somewhere different in Europe for my Masters will be a cool change. I'm used to living with people, I've always grown up with siblings and spent the last four years living with 1, 2 and all the way up to 6 people, so I'd say I'm quite adaptable and know how roommate life works. As for my free time, I looove all things food and going out to eat, hanging out with my roommates, reading, going out on the weekends but also having fun nights in. I would describe myself as outgoing, responsible, independent, easygoing, and fun to be around. I'm also a very active person, I've played tennis my whole life and played college sports while in the US but generally enjoy most sports (especially volleyball and football). I don't speak Dutch yet BUT I'll be learning, so for now I hope my German and English (and humble French) will suffice :). Excited to meet you guys!!

Hi, I’m moving from Germany to Delft or The Hague to start my master’s in Applied Mathematics at TU Delft. Outside university, I’m really into sports. At the moment that mostly means running and cycling, but I’m generally up for trying pretty much anything and have been thinking about picking up football again. I’m also a big fan of spontaneous plans, whether that means going for a run, heading to the park, cooking dinner together or grabbing a beer somewhere. Recently I’ve also picked up reading again after some peer pressure from friends, and I’m actually enjoying it. I’m using the rest of August to learn as much Dutch as I can. I’m still a beginner, but I’d like to improve quickly once I’m living there and can actually use it every day. I’ve already lived in a shared apartment during my bachelor’s, so I know what it’s like to share a home with other people. Ideally, I’d like to live somewhere where people occasionally cook together, hang out or spontaneously do something, rather than just sharing a kitchen and never seeing each other. At the same time, I’m perfectly happy doing my own thing as well. Right now I’m mainly hoping to find a place where I can settle in before the semester starts.
