Hi there! I’m 23 years old and from Scotland/South Africa and have just graduated from Edinburgh University last year studying architecture. I’ve taken a year out from my studies going on some fun travels and returning to Edinburgh to work in an architectural practice for a while before starting my studies in delft this September! I would describe myself as very friendly and outgoing, going on nights out (hangovers are getting worse though) although always enjoying some time to myself too now and then. I’m from a big family of 5 - and also living in a flat of 5 now - so I’m very used to communal living where tidying up after yourself and others is not an issue always keeping a nice and tidy space, that is relaxing and lovely to be in. I’ll almost always be up for a chat or chucking on a series to watch as I’m always snacking away in the kitchen :) Some fun little things I like to enjoy in my spare time are surfing, rugby, hiking, climbing and playing the bagpipes! My course runs for two years (2024-2026) and I’m really excited to be moving over to Holland soon and hopefully finding out more about you, thanks!

Afgelopen jaar heb ik deelgenomen aan School at Sea, een bijzonder educatief zeilprogramma voor middelbare scholieren. Tijdens dit programma heb ik zes maanden lang over de Atlantische Oceaan gezeild. In die periode heb ik geleerd om zelfstandig te werken en samen te werken en heb ik me ook sterk persoonlijk ontwikkeld. In mijn vrije tijd speel ik gitaar, hockey ik graag en vind ik zeilen ook erg leuk. Als ik straks in Delft woon, wil ik graag lid worden van een studentenvereniging. I am Marjane. I live in Lyon, France and I am preparing for a French/British Baccalaureate with biology and social and economic sciences as my main subjects. I want to study psychology because I’m interested in human behaviors. Later on, I want to mix psychology with cognitive sciences or move to Neuro-psychology. Psychology and biology are my main interests! Outside work I like climbing, volleyball and cycling. Climbing is very much part of our family culture, we often go on climbing holidays with my parents and my brother in the cliffs near Lyon or in the Alps. I cycle to college every day. I also play trumpet in a brass Orchestra. It’s quite fun and a good way to meet nice people. We moved to Lyon when I was 11. Before that we were living in Southampton, UK. It was very cosmopolitan, I grew up with kids from Italy, Latin America, India, Poland etc... This is why I am very excited to study in Leiden to experience this cultural diversity that I enjoyed so much as a kid. Being the eldest sibling in a family with two children, taking care of others has always been a pleasure. That is also why I take care of young children monthly with a scout non-profit organisation.
