My name is Dionysios Chatzoulis, though my friends call me Dion, and I am 21 years old (soon turning 22). I recently graduated from Augsburg University in Minneapolis, MN, where I completed my degree in Biochemistry. During my studies, I developed a strong interest in drug development research, which inspired me to pursue a master’s degree in Medicinal Chemistry at Radboud University. I am very excited to continue my academic journey in the Netherlands. Throughout my time at Augsburg, I was a full-time student while also working part-time as an Event Assistant for the university. This position provided valuable financial support and strengthened my sense of responsibility and independence. Last summer, I received funding to conduct my first research project, focusing on the Fries Rearrangement reaction using alternative heating sources. My goal was to explore greener catalytic methods for a reaction widely used in the production of pharmaceuticals (such as paracetamol), fragrances, pesticides, and textile dyes.
