My name is Dionysios Chatzoulis, though my friends call me Dion, and I am 21 years old (soon turning 22). I recently graduated from Augsburg University in Minneapolis, MN, where I completed my degree in Biochemistry. During my studies, I developed a strong interest in drug development research, which inspired me to pursue a master’s degree in Medicinal Chemistry at Radboud University. I am very excited to continue my academic journey in the Netherlands. Throughout my time at Augsburg, I was a full-time student while also working part-time as an Event Assistant for the university. This position provided valuable financial support and strengthened my sense of responsibility and independence. Last summer, I received funding to conduct my first research project, focusing on the Fries Rearrangement reaction using alternative heating sources. My goal was to explore greener catalytic methods for a reaction widely used in the production of pharmaceuticals (such as paracetamol), fragrances, pesticides, and textile dyes. This experience confirmed my passion for research and my desire to contribute to scientific development. Outside of academics, I enjoy staying active. I just finished my MSc in International Financial Management at the University of Groningen, and I'm now in the transition from studies into my first proper job in finance and analytics. Sinds september 2025 ben ik met mijn eerste baan gestart als onderzoekstechnicus/onderzoeker bij de microbiologie afdeling aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam, echter woon ik nu nog in mijn studentenstad Wageningen wat een reistijd van (minimaal, als het OV meezit) 4 uur per dag met zich meebrengt om op mijn werk en thuis te geraken. Daarnaast zal ik in juli 2026 mijn huidige woning uitgezet worden, waardoor ik op zoek ben naar een nieuwe woning idealiter een stukje dichter bij mijn werk :). Ik ga zorgvuldig om met mijn woonruimte en vind het belangrijk dat een woning schoon en netjes blijft. Ik heb een vast werkritme en ben doordeweeks vooral gericht op werk en ontspanning thuis. In het weekend vind ik het gezellig om af en toe iets te ondernemen met vrienden, maar thuis hecht ik vooral aan rust en ontspanning. In mijn vrije tijd lees ik graag, ben ik creatief bezig (haken, breien, af en toe schilderen, bakken en koken) en breng ik graag tijd buiten door.
