Ik ben Menno, 17 (in mei 18) jaar en ga aankomend schooljaar beginnen aan de studie mechanical engineering aan de TU. Ik kom uit Urk en hoop voor de komende studentenjaren in Enschede te kunnen doorbrengen. Ik ben een sociale en actieve gast die niet graag de hele avond alleen op zijn kamer zit. Daar horen natuurlijk ook een aantal hobby's bij. Ik hou van muziek maken en doe dit als slagwerker bij Showband Urk, waar we ook van gezelligheid houden. Ook ben ik bezig met audio- en videotechniek. Dit doe ik als geluidsman voor een kerk, maar ook bij feestjes kan je me vinden om de techniek te regelen. Ook kan een stukje sport niet ontbreken. My name is Dionysios Chatzoulis, though my friends call me Dion, and I am 21 years old (soon turning 22). I recently graduated from Augsburg University in Minneapolis, MN, where I completed my degree in Biochemistry. During my studies, I developed a strong interest in drug development research, which inspired me to pursue a master’s degree in Medicinal Chemistry at Radboud University. I am very excited to continue my academic journey in the Netherlands. Throughout my time at Augsburg, I was a full-time student while also working part-time as an Event Assistant for the university. This position provided valuable financial support and strengthened my sense of responsibility and independence. Last summer, I received funding to conduct my first research project, focusing on the Fries Rearrangement reaction using alternative heating sources. My goal was to explore greener catalytic methods for a reaction widely used in the production of pharmaceuticals (such as paracetamol), fragrances, pesticides, and textile dyes. This experience confirmed my passion for research and my desire to contribute to scientific development. Outside of academics, I enjoy staying active.
