I am moving to Leiden in 2026 to begin my Master’s in International Relations at Leiden University, after completing my BA in History and German at the University of Queensland. I speak English natively, German after three years of university study, Dutch at a conversational to semi-fluent level (and I am very motivated to become fully fluent during my time in Leiden), and a little Spanish from a year of study. I genuinely love languages and what they open up socially and culturally, so I am always excited to meet housemates from different backgrounds, learn new words, and understand how other people see the world. During my undergraduate years, I lived in a residential student complex of around 600 students and worked as a Residential Advisor. There would usually be reading, news, and conversation if housemates are around. Later I would take a train somewhere new, visit a museum or gallery, have lunch in a café, and spend time journaling or reading. I would bring my camera and spend a few hours wandering and taking photos of everyday life, then ideally end the day watching the sunset somewhere with a glass of wine, before heading home for a cosy dinner and a film, and being in bed by around 10, ready for the week ahead.
