My name is Dionysios Chatzoulis, though my friends call me Dion, and I am 21 years old (soon turning 22). I recently graduated from Augsburg University in Minneapolis, MN, where I completed my degree in Biochemistry. During my studies, I developed a strong interest in drug development research, which inspired me to pursue a master’s degree in Medicinal Chemistry at Radboud University. I am very excited to continue my academic journey in the Netherlands. Throughout my time at Augsburg, I was a full-time student while also working part-time as an Event Assistant for the university. This position provided valuable financial support and strengthened my sense of responsibility and independence. Last summer, I received funding to conduct my first research project, focusing on the Fries Rearrangement reaction using alternative heating sources. My goal was to explore greener catalytic methods for a reaction widely used in the production of pharmaceuticals (such as paracetamol), fragrances, pesticides, and textile dyes. This experience confirmed my passion for research and my desire to contribute to scientific development. Outside of academics, I enjoy staying active. Hai, ik ben Nathalie (18 jaar), ik kom uit Deventer en ga in september bewegingswetenschappen studeren in Groningen. Ik houd van hockey, reizen, een gezellig feestje, werken in de horeca, spelletjes en soms lekker op de bank zitten en een serie kijken. Afgelopen jaar heb ik een tussenjaar gehad. Ik heb de afgelopen tijd dan ook veel gewerkt en gereisd. Ik ben naar Malaga geweest (5 weken) en naar Zuid-Afrika, Eswatini en Mozambique (2,5 maand). Ik vond het dan ook heerlijk om even een jaartje rust te hebben van school/studie, maar heb nu ook wel mega veel zin in het studentenleven! Ik heb een zus die nu ook al wat jaartjes in Groningen studeert, en door haar verhalen kijk ik er ook heel erg naar uit om in Groningen te studeren en wonen! Ik ben dan ook niet helemaal onbekend met de stad. Het lijkt me leuk om in een gezellig studentenhuis te wonen en samen leuke dingen te doen (koken, spelletjes, uitgaan of gewoon lekker kletsen :)).
