I am a 24-year-old Canadian law student from Toronto. I have been in Groningen since August 2025. I came to Groningen as part of my Canadian University’s partnership with RUG that allowed me to finish my Canadian Juris Doctor degree and enabled me to get an LLM at RUG. As such, currently, I have completed the Juris Doctor degree and am wrapping up my LLM in Law and Technology at the RUG. In Canada, the study of law is exclusively a graduate study. As a result, I also have an Undergraduate Degree from the University of Toronto. Initially, I planned to go back to Toronto for work after the completion of my study in Groningen. However, I have fallen in love with the city and its walkability/cyclability. As a result, I plan to stay in the city for some time and establish a legal career in Europe. Currently, I am in the process of searching for a legal job. In the meantime, I have lined up some part time work to keep up with expenses. Although surprised, my family is supportive of my decision to stay in Groningen and are willing to act as my financial safety net, if needed. I have been paying 800 EUR for my current SSH accommodation and can provide the receipts. Apart from my study and work-based pursuits, I have kept engaged with hobbies in the city including Salsa and Ballroom dancing. Ik ben gewend om thuis mijn steentje bij te dragen en gewoon alle huishoudelijke klusjes te doen. Ook doe ik deels schoonmaak in het ziekenhuis, dus ben wel wat gewend ondertussen, daar kan weinig tegenop🥲 Ik neem graag initiatief en plan ook graag, maar vind het ook chill om af en toe lekker iemand anders zn ideeën te volgen. Ik zou mijzelf omschrijven als open en sociaal, kan soms als ik gestrest ben/het druk heb me wel ietsje terugtrekken, maar dan geef ik het ook wel aan. Verder heb ik mijn vwo in 2025 afgerond en begin in september 2026 aan verpleegkunde op het HBO met als doel ambulance verpleegkundige te worden.
