At the end of August, I'll be moving to Amsterdam to start my Master's in International Trade and Investment Law at the University of Amsterdam (UvA), also planning to work part-time alongside my studies. Hallo! Ik ben Tristan en ik ben bezig met mijn 3de jaar Technical Computer Science aan de UT. Ook al ben ik een echte computer nerd, lijkt het me toch gezellig om met een aantal anderen samen te wonen. Tot nu toe heb ik genoten van het OV elke dag, maar daar ben ik onderhand wel een beetje klaar mee, dus ben ik op zoek naar een leuke kamer in Enschede. Ik zelf ben vooral een rustige jongen, en daarom ben ik ook op zoek naar een rustig huis met niet al te veel leden, maar daarnaast vindt ik het af en toe ook gezellig om wat samen met het huis te doen. Ik speel zelf nu al een aantal jaar gitaar (wat af en toe door het huis te horen kan zijn) en muziek is daardoor een belangrijk onderdeel geworden van mijn leven. Hey! I'm Tito, a 4th-year Communications student from the University of Waterloo in Canada. I'm coming to Rotterdam for a fall exchange semester at Erasmus University. I'm looking to stay from August (23/24/25) to Jan 31st. That's the dates my program runs from. I'm hoping to get the most out of my sixth months here, both as a student and as a visitor. I'm looking forward to exploring Rotterdam, the Netherlands and also countries around Europe since it's easier to travel. I want to try new foods, activities, cultural traditions, anything really. I am very open to trying new things. I'd like to get to know the people I would live with, especially if you are students as well. It would be nice to have people to do things with, especially if you're local and know Rotterdam well. Outside of studying, I enjoy going to the gym and being active by going on walks/hiking. I also get into creative projects like creating videos and doing photography, and like exploring new cities on foot. I'm looking forward to documenting my time in Europe through photos and videos, especially if I have the opportunity to do cool hikes or activities. I'm looking for a place where I can focus during the week and also relax. I usually meal prep, but I enjoy cooking new foods and baking as well. Een woning huren, omgeven door natuur, is de perfecte plek voor mij. Ik ben een actieve en gezonde persoon. Ik doe dagelijks aan yoga en leid een gezond en ecologisch leven. Gedurende mijn drie jaar in Thailand heb ik in een huurhuis gewoond van een Thais echtpaar van 70 jaar dat geen Engels sprak, en de taalbarrière was nooit een probleem. Ze waren bijna als ouders voor mij en we onderhouden nog steeds contact. Deze ervaring heeft me in staat gesteld me gemakkelijk aan te passen aan nieuwe situaties en snel de cultuur en taal van het land dat zijn deuren voor mij opent te leren. Ik werk nu al zes maanden bij PostNL en ben gewend aan discipline en fysieke inspanning. Ik ben niet een roker, wat ik als een extra waarde beschouw voor elke woning. Ik geef er de voorkeur aan alleen te wonen, omdat ik erg schoon en ordelijk ben. Wanneer ik een woning deel, eindig ik altijd met het schoonmaken voor mijn huisgenoten, en dat is geen aangename situatie voor mij. Daarnaast heb ik een grote interesse om meer te leren over de Nederlandse cultuur en taal. Sinds ik zes maanden geleden naar Nederland ben gekomen, heb ik niet de gelegenheid gehad om de taal te leren vanwege mijn werkomgeving en woonomgeving, omdat ik altijd omringd ben door buitenlanders. Ik ben erg enthousiast om te beginnen met het leren van de Nederlandse gewoonten en taal en me zo snel mogelijk te integreren.
