My name is Moritz. I am 26, German, and I am moving from Jena to start as a Graduate Trainee in Optical Engineering at the European Space Agency (ESA/ESTEC) in Noordwijk on 1 October 2026. I would be the sole occupant. I do not smoke, I have no pets, and I am quiet and tidy. I have rented my current flat in Jena since 2020 and can provide a reference from my landlord. I intend to register at the address (BRP) and to stay long term. Income: my ESA salary is about 3.329 euro net per month. ESA salaries are exempt from Dutch income tax and social security, which is why the net figure is high for the grade. My contract runs 12 months and is extendable to 24, which I intend to take. If a landlord would like more security, my father can act as guarantor: permanent contract, about 4.822 euro net per month. I can supply my ESA appointment letter, an official salary statement, bank statements and passport immediately. What I am looking for: a self-contained apartment or studio in Leiden, or between Leiden and Noordwijk along the bus 400 route. Up to about 1.700 euro per month all in. Unfurnished is fine, I bring my own furniture. From 1 October 2026, or earlier if that suits the landlord. Viewings: I am in Germany until mid September, so before 19 September a video viewing would suit best. From 19 September I can come to Leiden at short notice.
