Hi, my name is Archie and I’m 19 years old. I’m originally from Spain, with British/Spanish parents - I’m fully bilingual. I’m moving to Eindhoven to study Industrial Engineering at TU/e and I’m looking for a comfortable, quiet place to call home while I focus on my degree. Before starting university I spent a gap year solo-travelling through South America, working in Maui and honing my surf skills, and spending a month in Bali surfing twice a day and meeting travellers from all over the world. It was an incredible experience that taught me a lot about independence, adaptability, and looking after myself (and others) wherever I am. I’m a responsible and tidy person; I take good care of shared spaces and respect the home I live in. I’m a non-smoker and don’t have any pets. I’m also pretty handy when it comes to DIY, so small things that need fixing are never a problem! Outside of my studies, I’m very active and love sport - tennis, kitesurfing, foil, surfing, skiing, wakeboarding, and hiking are all part of my life. I also have a real passion for food - I love cooking and eating well, with a good mix of Spanish and British influences thrown in. I'm looking for an accomodation to stay during these 6 months and I do not need anything fancy or particular. My basic requirement is a room furnished with a mattress and a desk to study, which are the only things that I'm not able to carry with me from Italy. In general, I'm looking for a room characterized as follows: well kept and clean place, room as silent as possible to let me focus better while studying, university easily reachable by bike or by public transport, and not too many roommates (but I can relax on this last one). I also like social life, but I generally give more importance to my studies. I enjoy socializing with roommates, such as through talking about the culture in different countries, playing cardgames or videogames together, or cooking. Yet, when it comes to going outside too often (and coming back late), hosting unknown friends or having parties at home, this just stresses me a lot, especially next to the exam sessions. Hence, I try to keep a reasonable balance between studying and socializing.
