Hey friends, it’s my first time venturing out into this form of finding a place while traveling. This is the first summer we are able to stay away from our home for more than 2 weeks and we’re looking for a local experience rather than a hotel (having just left the corporate world). My wife and I are both psychologists and I am a masters student at Oxford University (part time) while we both run a training center in applied mindfulness and psychology. I hold a bachelors in chemical engineering and a double masters in applied positive psychology and mindfulness. My wife is a clinical psychologist. We live in Dubai, where our work and life is built. For this summer we are planning to spend a month in Oxford (as I complete my thesis), a month in Amsterdam, and a month in Portugal — where we have a home (our little fur child — a red haired Shiba Inu — is at our extended family home, we couldn’t bring her with us due to restrictions in the UK 👎). We found a home for our stay at Oxford and now looking for a home for our stay in Amsterdam (or nearby) We are tidy, organized and enjoy quiet mornings and quiet evenings. A cafe nearby to read at and a park and shopping area to enjoy. That for us is an ideal vacation. We have sublet our home in Dubai while traveling before so we understand how important it is to take care of a home and look after it like our own. Hi there, my name is Jordan and I am a 29 year old undergraduate student from Los Angeles who will be doing an exchange at Utrecht University from August 2026 to August 2027. I will be studying law & political theory. Though I am a student and will not be working I will be receiving extensive financial aid through my home university and have a large pool of savings, so I will be able to meet whatever necessary income requirements. I also have a guarantor to assist me, if necessary. When I'm not studying I love to read, watch the NBA (go Lakers!), try new restaurants, and go to the movies. When the weather is nice I like to be outside with a good book or picnic. In a housing environment I like to keep things neat and organized and I am very respectful of other peoples' space/items/sleep, etc. I like to take it easy for the most part during the week, but I also enjoy a night out on the weekend. I am happy to have relaxed social gatherings at home like dinner parties, game nights, or film nights, too. When getting to know new housemates I think choosing a show to watch together, cooking a meal together, or chatting over a card/board game are all great ways to connect. I am a non-smoker and I do not have any pets. I love animals, though I would not be able to have any pets go into my room in a shared accommodation as I have an allergy. Ik ben heel gepassioneerd over onderwijs, mensen rechten, kunst en beta vakken en heb mijn studiekeuzes hiernaar afgestemd. Ik krijg heel vaak te horen van mensen dat ik introverted kan overkomen (een echte type A persoon 😅), maar ik zou mezelf omschrijven als een ambivert. Ik begin mijn studie aan de TU delft Civiele Techniek in september, en hoop daarbij de komende 5 jaar in delft te kunnen wonen (hopelijk wat langer zelfs) Als ik aan mijn toekomst denk, dan zie ik mezelf in een technische carrière wat te maken heeft met woonbouw. In mijn vrije tijd hou ik ervan om met mijn vrienden af te spreken, nieuwe talen te leren (een recente hobby) en veel te lezen. Je zal me vaak vinden in de bibliotheek of in mijn kamer, werkend aan mijn studie. Als een huisgenoot kan je van mij een respectvolle en verantwoordelijk manier van communicatie verwachten. Ik ben zelf heel erg georganiseerd en schoon. Als het om samenleven gaat, ben ik super verantwoordelijk en netjes. Je hoeft je geen zorgen te maken over een rommelige gemeenschappelijke ruimte of de vuile vaat die zich opstapelt. Bovendien ben ik altijd in voor een goede sfeer en het creëren van een positieve leefomgeving. We zijn tenslotte grotendeels allemaal studenten, en een vieze woonruimte is geen manier om te leven als je ook nog eens diep in projecten en huiswerk zit.
