From late October to late January, I will be in Amsterdam as a visiting researcher at the University of Amsterdam (QUVA Lab) working on my Master’s thesis. My stay is fully funded by an Erasmus+ grant, and I also work part-time remotely as an AI Engineer. Because of my 3-month stay, municipal registration is not strictly required. As a housemate, I am quiet, clean, tidy, and very respectful of shared living spaces and house rules. During the week I will be spending most of my day at the research lab, while in my free time I enjoy playing tennis, working out outdoors, and exploring the city. I am a non-smoker and have no pets. I already lived in the Netherlands (Den Haag) for ten months, during which I did a volunteering experience at a youth center and a school in Rijswijk. I have lived both alone and with another guy. During university, I shared an apartment with 4 other people (overall, during my bachelor's degree, I lived with 5 girls and 3 guys aged 18 to 27) without ever having any kind of issue. I'm originally from South Africa, where I worked in medical device regulation before moving to the Netherlands in 2023. I've been in Utrecht since then, so this would be a local move rather than a fresh start, I know the area and I'm settled here. Outside work I'm at the gym a few times a week and I walk a lot; it's how I get away from a screen. The rest of my free time mostly goes into programming , I'm usually building something, learning a new tool, or taking a system apart to see how it works. As a housemate I'm tidy, self-sufficient and easy to live alongside. I cook properly, clean up after myself, and I'm not someone who fills the house with people. I like coming home to a calm place at the end of the day. I'm not a student, which in practice means a steady income, a predictable weekday routine, and no plans to move out at the end of a semester. I'm looking for somewhere settled for the longer term , at least 1-2 years.
