Hoi, ik ben Delmer! Ik ben 18 jaar oud en Ik woon in zuid-Friesland. Op dit moment ben ik tweede jaars toegepaste psychologie student op de Hanze in Groningen, maar ik begin volgend jaar aan de opleiding Psychologie op de UU. Door deze verhuizing van opleiding ben ik opzoek naar een kamer in Utrecht of een dorp/stad in de omliggende omgeving. Ik ben van nature een sociaal persoon en kan ook rustig overkomen, daarom heb ik ook voor psychologie gekozen. Hiernaast kan ik het ook heel leuk vinden om dingen te doen met toekomstige huisgenoten zoals huisavonden! In mijn vrije tijd luister ik veel muziek, lees ik hier en daar een boek en ga ik ook met een zekere regelmaat naar de sportschool. Ik zoek op dit moment een kamer waarbij het vooral heel gezellig kan zijn, maar dat iedereen ook een beetje hun eigen leven lijdt. Daarnaast hoop ik gewoon een leuke tijd te kunnen hebben in het mooie Utje!

I am a 24-year-old Canadian law student from Toronto. I have been in Groningen since August 2025. I came to Groningen as part of my Canadian University’s partnership with RUG that allowed me to finish my Canadian Juris Doctor degree and enabled me to get an LLM at RUG. As such, currently, I have completed the Juris Doctor degree and am wrapping up my LLM in Law and Technology at the RUG. In Canada, the study of law is exclusively a graduate study. As a result, I also have an Undergraduate Degree from the University of Toronto. Initially, I planned to go back to Toronto for work after the completion of my study in Groningen. However, I have fallen in love with the city and its walkability/cyclability. As a result, I plan to stay in the city for some time and establish a legal career in Europe. Currently, I am in the process of searching for a legal job. In the meantime, I have lined up some part time work to keep up with expenses. Although surprised, my family is supportive of my decision to stay in Groningen and are willing to act as my financial safety net, if needed. I have been paying 800 EUR for my current SSH accommodation and can provide the receipts. Apart from my study and work-based pursuits, I have kept engaged with hobbies in the city including Salsa and Ballroom dancing. I am also a part of the travel association AEGEE and have taken opportunities to travel across 12 European countries. Additionally, I am currently taking Dutch intensive summer classes. After my Bachelor’s in Psychology, I decided to do a Working Holiday in Australia… which somehow turned into almost 3 years of travelling - oops 🧚🏽‍♀️ I’m now excited to find a place that feels like home again and would love to live with local/Dutch roommates, immerse myself in the culture, and hopefully learn some Dutch along the way (with a little help 🤏🏽).
