Hello, I'm Emilio. I’m 22 years old and will be 23 in May 2026. I was born and raised in Napa, California but have lived in Denver, Colorado for the past 2 years. I hope to take that knowledge of the Netherlands and bring it back to the USA to help improve our car-centric cities here. I’m pursuing a Bachelor’s at University of Amsterdam to study Human Geography and Planning, eventually gaining a Masters in a related field. In terms of housing, my preference would be in Amsterdam within a reasonable commute to the Roeterseiland campus, but understand I may need to look further out. I would prefer to live in a private studio, but I’m also open to shared housing. In Denver, I’ve lived with three various other roommates the whole time, and all of us have gotten along very well. I’m very clean and quite quiet, though I do like socializing with my roommates when we’re able to. Having lived with roommates the past 2 years, I’m more than happy to share a space with others and I keep common areas very tidy. I just finished my thesis for my bachelor's in Business Analytics at the University of Amsterdam and will be starting the master's in Econometrics and Management Science at Erasmus University next year, probably starting with the pre-master. After my six-month exchange in Hong Kong I realised how great it is to live on your own. I previously lived in Masstricht, The Netherlands for my bachelors, a few months in California, and most recently in Munich for the past three years together with my brother. A bit about me: I'd describe myself as an introvert who still really enjoys good company. I like coming home to a calm, clean space, and I put effort into keeping shared areas that way. I enjoy cooking and would love the occasional shared dinner or evening chat, but I also completely respect that everyone needs their own time and quiet. I'm not someone who'll fill the flat with parties or guests. My weekdays are fairly structured: I work from the office during the day, so the flat is mostly empty until the evening. In my free time I cycle, do yoga and Pilates, and I'm looking forward to properly exploring Amsterdam, such as museums, markets, parks and everything in between. Ideally I'd share with one other young professional or PhD student who has a similar rhythm: friendly and open, but valuing a peaceful home.
