Ik heb net mijn studie Handhaver Toezicht en Veiligheid afgerond en ik ben nu direct aan het solliciteren bij werknemers zoals Service en Veiligheid. Ik werk momenteel ook veel bij de Lidl om een goed inkomen te houden. Mijn inkomen elke maand is nu 1268 euro (netto), maar ik ben van plan om mijn contracteren te verhogen zodat mijn netto maandinkomen rond 2000/2200 gaat zitten. En ik ben volgende week 21 waardoor mijn loon ook flink omhoog zal gaan. Als ik wordt aangenomen bij Veiligheid en Service zou dit inkomen veranderen naar 2700/3200 euro bruto per maand. Ik ben van plan om alleen te gaan wonen. Ik zoek naar een woning in verband met de nieuwe baan. Er is een grote kans dat ik de baan krijg, dus dan moet ik ook een woning hebben in de buurt van mijn werkplek. Ik heb ook een garantstelling van een ouder. I am a 24-year-old Canadian law student from Toronto. I have been in Groningen since August 2025. I came to Groningen as part of my Canadian University’s partnership with RUG that allowed me to finish my Canadian Juris Doctor degree and enabled me to get an LLM at RUG. As such, currently, I have completed the Juris Doctor degree and am wrapping up my LLM in Law and Technology at the RUG. In Canada, the study of law is exclusively a graduate study. As a result, I also have an Undergraduate Degree from the University of Toronto. Initially, I planned to go back to Toronto for work after the completion of my study in Groningen. However, I have fallen in love with the city and its walkability/cyclability. As a result, I plan to stay in the city for some time and establish a legal career in Europe. Currently, I am in the process of searching for a legal job. In the meantime, I have lined up some part time work to keep up with expenses. Although surprised, my family is supportive of my decision to stay in Groningen and are willing to act as my financial safety net, if needed. I have been paying 800 EUR for my current SSH accommodation and can provide the receipts. Apart from my study and work-based pursuits, I have kept engaged with hobbies in the city including Salsa and Ballroom dancing. I am also a part of the travel association AEGEE and have taken opportunities to travel across 12 European countries. Additionally, I am currently taking Dutch intensive summer classes. I hope to have at least an A2 level proficiency in the language by the end of this summer.

I also keep myself busy with climate activism and some local politics in Karlsruhe where I currently study.
