I am a 24-year-old Canadian law student from Toronto. I have been in Groningen since August 2025. I came to Groningen as part of my Canadian University’s partnership with RUG that allowed me to finish my Canadian Juris Doctor degree and enabled me to get an LLM at RUG. As such, currently, I have completed the Juris Doctor degree and am wrapping up my LLM in Law and Technology at the RUG. In Canada, the study of law is exclusively a graduate study. As a result, I also have an Undergraduate Degree from the University of Toronto. Initially, I planned to go back to Toronto for work after the completion of my study in Groningen. However, I have fallen in love with the city and its walkability/cyclability. As a result, I plan to stay in the city for some time and establish a legal career in Europe. Currently, I am in the process of searching for a legal job. In the meantime, I have lined up some part time work to keep up with expenses. Although surprised, my family is supportive of my decision to stay in Groningen and are willing to act as my financial safety net, if needed. I have been paying 800 EUR for my current SSH accommodation and can provide the receipts. Apart from my study and work-based pursuits, I have kept engaged with hobbies in the city including Salsa and Ballroom dancing. I am also a part of the travel association AEGEE and have taken opportunities to travel across 12 European countries. Additionally, I am currently taking Dutch intensive summer classes. I hope to have at least an A2 level proficiency in the language by the end of this summer.

Hallo! Ik ben Ivash, een 19-jarige student en ik ga dit jaar beginnen met de studie Industrial Design Engineering aan de Universiteit Twente. Ik ga regelmatig naar de sportschool en ben altijd in voor sportieve activiteiten. Daarom ga ik natuurlijk zodra ik kan bij een sportvereniging aansluiten. Daarnaast ben ik gek op (bord)spellen en zeg ik nooit nee tegen een gezellige avond samen. Momenteel heb ik een tussenjaar en werk ik als ober in een lunchroom. Daar vind ik het superleuk om met collega’s en klanten te praten en nieuwe mensen te leren kennen. Daarnaast houd ik ook van bakken, dus kunnen jullie van verse appeltaart, kruimeltaart of cake genieten! Het lijkt me leuk om een deel te zijn van een gezellig studentenhuis!

Hi, my name is Fabián. I'm 24 years old and I'm a jazz musician, and this year I'll be studying at Codarts on an Erasmus program ☺️ To give a little context about who I am and where I come from: I'm from Spain and I've been a musician for more than ten years. Throughout my life, I've learned to play a few instruments (saxophone, piano, flute, bass, etc.), but my favorite is definitely the saxophone. I'm currently studying in Valencia, but I'm from a nearby city called Castellón (small and pretty), where you can be at the beach in 20 minutes by bike and where it seems like it's almost always spring. I am passionate about art, and I love making plans that have to do with it (visiting museums, seeing concerts, painting, designing... basically anything). I enjoy nature and making plans for the outdoors, I love animas, meeting new people, going out, going to the gym, going to a bar for a drink, among other things. But most of the time I like to be by myself at home. I love having time for myself, and probably my favorite thing in the world is to stay at home with a blanket and read, watch a movie, listen to music, or just relax. That's why I think it's very important to have a quiet and healthy living enviroment. And finally, I consider myself a very tidy and clean person who is easy to live with. I am very excited about this opportunity to live in Rotterdam and meet new people. ☺️🧡

After a 6-month gap spent in France working and learning a new language, I am starting a master’s in engineering at TU Delft this September. I am looking for a room in a student residence, as I believe it would represent the perfect environment to live this experience.
