Hi there! I’ve been on both sides of this not-so-fun search of looking for a room and looking for a flatmate, so I know how stressful it can get. That’s why I’m leaving here the things I’d like to know about someone if I were searching for a flatmate myself… and I’ll leave the rest to my good luck, life, and the universe. ✨ Why I’m moving Right now I live in Zaandam, which is nice, but it’s far from my university. Cycling 1h15 each way almost every day is getting a bit exhausting (I’ve been doing it for nearly 3 months). I’ll start the second year of my master’s in Hydrology at VU and plan to stay in the city for a while, so I’m looking for a place where I can really settle in. ✨ About me and my routine I’m Alan and I moved to the Netherlands around one year ago now. I study full-time at VU, work part-time as a cashier at Jumbo, and also run a small fully-online business in Mexico (no business activity in the house here, don’t worry!). Weekdays are usually busy with uni and work, but when I’m free I like going for bike rides, meeting friends for coffee or a beer, or just relaxing at home watching series. ✨ My vibe at home I’m easy-going and friendly. I enjoy spending time with housemates but also those quiet moments on my own. I’m happy to chat, share a meal or a drink, or just hang out in the kitchen after a long day. Clean and tidy shared spaces matter to me, but I’m not too drastic about it, I just want to be respectful so everyone feels comfortable. ✨ What you can expect from me A clean, reliable flatmate who pays rent on time, respects privacy, and helps keep the place nice. ✨ What I expect Own room in Amsterdam or nearby, with registration available (this is necessary!). I am the safest option for any landlord. I do not smoke nor drink nor party nor will have pets again. I was a member of the Norwegian KFUK-KFUM boy scouts for well over 10 years. I did the International Baccalaureate (IB) course and achieved a total score of 37/45, which is well above the IB average of 30,4. The IB diploma is seen as the same as a VWO diploma here in the Netherlands (which is why I put gymnasium in the education level, as there was no option for my specific situation). I have Norwegian student assistance to fund my studies, as well as a guarantor and €20 000 in savings. I have never been arrested nor had any interaction with any police. I am a student for Human Geography and Planning, a course only people really interested in the topic would choose. I've always been interested in it as I grew up around the work my father did at Bane NOR (Norwegian Train Organisation).

Hello! My name is Balázs, I’m a 23-year-old Hungarian student, and I am currently studying Political Science at the UvA. I expect to graduate in July of next year, so I would be interested in renting the room at least until the 31st of July 2026. I have been living in Leiden for the past 2 years, but I broke up with my partner and therefore I am looking to move away as soon as possible. Preferably to a cozy room in Amsterdam or the surrounding area. A bit about me: I am finishing my Political Science bachelor this semester, but I decided to extend my studies and do an Economics related minor, which takes 1 year to complete. Aside from studying, I work in a traditional Dutch Cheese store (I can always bring some nice cheeses for you). I am also part of a student association called AEGEE. I’ve also been volunteering at an NGO specialized in the prevention of labor exploitation of immigrant workers called Fairwork. I’m a quiet, calm, and tidy person who has lived in a small town called Sopron in Hungary most of his life and has been living in the Netherlands for the past two years already. I would like to move to Amsterdam or at least closer to the city. This is because I think it is an amazing place, and my job and my school are there. I'm a non-smoker, have no pets, I pay the rent on time, I have a stable job and income, and I always respect any set rules. Aside from what I mentioned before, I enjoy watching movies, taking care of plants, hiking, biking and traveling in my free time.
