About the place

Hello room seeker!

Welcome to Deurningerstraat 13, a 3-room student apartment located above the Japanese restaurant ‘Tao’, just a stone’s throw away from the city center. If you study at Saxion, it’s only a 5-minute bike ride, and the University of Twente can be reached in 15 minutes. Enschede train station is just a 3-minute walk away (we speak from lots of experience 😊). There’s a bike stall around the corner, then you walk through the alley to the stairs that lead up to the roof; then you cross the rooftop terrace to get to the apartment. The hallway is on the west side of the house, as are the kitchen and living room. The available room is at the start of the hallway on the west side.

During the day, we each do our own thing (study, work), but in the evenings we often come together for dinner and usually stick around for a chat and each other’s company (sometimes with a drink!). You’re free to do your own thing of course, we all have our own hobbies and weekly activities. We maintain a good division of tasks through a cleaning schedule (kitchen, bathroom, and general tasks like vacuuming and taking out the trash), so we’re looking for a housemate who feels comfortable with this and contributes to this as well. Occasionally, we have friends over for cooking nights or board game evenings. Finally, we’re also a house where everyone has their own space and peace to study or just relax.

And now an introduction! We are Merlijn (NL, 20), Benedek (HU, 26), and Arthur (NL, 26). Merlijn is studying ‘Technical Medicine’ (BA), Benedek is doing a Master’s in ‘Sustainable Technology’, and Arthur is nearly graduated with in ‘European Studies & Comparative Public Governance’ (MA) and works in Zwolle. Merlijn will be leaving us soon as he’s moving to Nijmegen for his studies, which means his room will be available starting July 1st, 2025.

The room that’s becoming available is at the front of the house and is 10 m². It has a large window, including a tilt window with a radiator beneath it. The room has plenty of power outlets and wired internet. The curtains and the new PVC floor are expected to be taken over.

We also share a living room and kitchen equipped with cooking plates, an oven, fridge, and microwave, as well as a (very spacious!) bathroom with a shower, washing machine, sink, and toilet.
