I am a 24-year-old Canadian law student from Toronto. I have been in Groningen since August 2025. I came to Groningen as part of my Canadian University’s partnership with RUG that allowed me to finish my Canadian Juris Doctor degree and enabled me to get an LLM at RUG. As such, currently, I have completed the Juris Doctor degree and am wrapping up my LLM in Law and Technology at the RUG. In Canada, the study of law is exclusively a graduate study. As a result, I also have an Undergraduate Degree from the University of Toronto. Initially, I planned to go back to Toronto for work after the completion of my study in Groningen. However, I have fallen in love with the city and its walkability/cyclability. As a result, I plan to stay in the city for some time and establish a legal career in Europe. Currently, I am in the process of searching for a legal job. In the meantime, I have lined up some part time work to keep up with expenses. Although surprised, my family is supportive of my decision to stay in Groningen and are willing to act as my financial safety net, if needed. I have been paying 800 EUR for my current SSH accommodation and can provide the receipts. Apart from my study and work-based pursuits, I have kept engaged with hobbies in the city including Salsa and Ballroom dancing. I am also a part of the travel association AEGEE and have taken opportunities to travel across 12 European countries. Additionally, I am currently taking Dutch intensive summer classes. I hope to have at least an A2 level proficiency in the language by the end of this summer.

Ik ben Anouk en ik ben 23 jaar oud. Ik kom oorspronkelijk uit de regio Nijmegen en ben toen gaan studeren in Groningen. Hier heb ik mijn hbo opleiding Built Environment afgerond en nu ga ik een nieuw hoofdstuk in mijn leven aan, namelijk richting Enschede. Ik hou enorm van muziek luisteren en ben groot fan van Avicii en tegenwoordig ook steeds meer van Raye. Tegen een festival zeg ik ook zeker geen nee, hier kijk ik elke keer weer naar uit. De laatste tijd heb ik ook skeeleren herontdekt en ik vind het ook leuk om te padellen en te boulderen, ik ben er alleen niet echt goed in. Ik ben een sociaal en enthousiast persoon die altijd open staat voor een babbel in huis en ik ben daarom ook opzoek naar een huisje waarbij de deuren open staan voor elkaar.
