I am a 24-year-old Canadian law student from Toronto. I have been in Groningen since August 2025. I came to Groningen as part of my Canadian University’s partnership with RUG that allowed me to finish my Canadian Juris Doctor degree and enabled me to get an LLM at RUG. As such, currently, I have completed the Juris Doctor degree and am wrapping up my LLM in Law and Technology at the RUG. In Canada, the study of law is exclusively a graduate study. As a result, I also have an Undergraduate Degree from the University of Toronto. Initially, I planned to go back to Toronto for work after the completion of my study in Groningen. However, I have fallen in love with the city and its walkability/cyclability. As a result, I plan to stay in the city for some time and establish a legal career in Europe. Currently, I am in the process of searching for a legal job. In the meantime, I have lined up some part time work to keep up with expenses. Although surprised, my family is supportive of my decision to stay in Groningen and are willing to act as my financial safety net, if needed. I have been paying 800 EUR for my current SSH accommodation and can provide the receipts. Apart from my study and work-based pursuits, I have kept engaged with hobbies in the city including Salsa and Ballroom dancing. I am also a part of the travel association AEGEE and have taken opportunities to travel across 12 European countries. Additionally, I am currently taking Dutch intensive summer classes. I hope to have at least an A2 level proficiency in the language by the end of this summer.

I'm Sara, a 26-year-old Linguistics master's student originally from Milan, Italy. I've been living and studying in Lund, Sweden. I'll be moving to Utrecht from early September until the end of January for an exchange semester at Utrecht University as part of my post-master studies (and to prepare for a possible PhD!). I'm looking for a room to stay during my time. I've lived with housemates before, so I'm used to shared living and like to keep common spaces clean and tidy. In my free time, I love cooking and baking (and I'm always happy to share!), as well as knitting, going for walks and exploring the city! I just finished my MSc in International Financial Management at the University of Groningen, and I'm now in the transition from studies into my first proper job in finance and analytics. I'm giving up my room in Groningen at the end of April and looking for a place for up to six months while I settle into work. I can move in as soon as possible and I'm flexible on the exact start date. On the practical side: rent is fully covered. My parents are supporting me through this transition period, and I'm happy to provide proof of funds or a guarantor if that's useful. I may also pick up a small side job in the meantime for a bit more independence. As a housemate I'm tidy, I like having a routine, and I'm easy to live with. I don't smoke and I don't have any pets. Het “echte” studentenleven is iets waar ik geen affiniteit meer mee heb, mede door de stad waar ik ben opgegroeid. Dus ik ben toch meer op zoek naar een woning met privacy. Daarnaast hou ik van gezelligheid, wijntjes en hapjes. Daarnaast is sporten een hobby van me; ik doe aan hardlopen en ga graag naar de sportschool.
