I am a 24-year-old Canadian law student from Toronto. I have been in Groningen since August 2025. I came to Groningen as part of my Canadian University’s partnership with RUG that allowed me to finish my Canadian Juris Doctor degree and enabled me to get an LLM at RUG. As such, currently, I have completed the Juris Doctor degree and am wrapping up my LLM in Law and Technology at the RUG. In Canada, the study of law is exclusively a graduate study. As a result, I also have an Undergraduate Degree from the University of Toronto. Initially, I planned to go back to Toronto for work after the completion of my study in Groningen. However, I have fallen in love with the city and its walkability/cyclability. As a result, I plan to stay in the city for some time and establish a legal career in Europe. Currently, I am in the process of searching for a legal job. In the meantime, I have lined up some part time work to keep up with expenses. Although surprised, my family is supportive of my decision to stay in Groningen and are willing to act as my financial safety net, if needed. I have been paying 800 EUR for my current SSH accommodation and can provide the receipts. Apart from my study and work-based pursuits, I have kept engaged with hobbies in the city including Salsa and Ballroom dancing. I am also a part of the travel association AEGEE and have taken opportunities to travel across 12 European countries. Additionally, I am currently taking Dutch intensive summer classes. Ik ben Dennis, 20 jaar, en na mijn middelbare school cum laude te hebben afgerond, studeer ik nu bestuurs- en organisatiewetenschappen aan de Universiteit van Utrecht en ik begin na de zomer aan mijn tweede jaar als student en ben daarom opzoek naar een kamer of studio in Utrecht. Hi, My name is Ben Elias Opdenplatz. I'm 20 years old and currently looking for a long-term place in Leiden, where I'll start my Bachelor's in Psychology this autumn. Right now I'm enjoying the last months of my voluntary year in Argentina, where I live together with 30 teenage boys and accompany them through their daily life. This experience is actually what made me want to study psychology – it made me realize I want to work with and for people later on. In my free time I enjoy sports, reading, socializing and learning new things, such as languages.
