I am a 24-year-old Canadian law student from Toronto. I have been in Groningen since August 2025. I came to Groningen as part of my Canadian University’s partnership with RUG that allowed me to finish my Canadian Juris Doctor degree and enabled me to get an LLM at RUG. As such, currently, I have completed the Juris Doctor degree and am wrapping up my LLM in Law and Technology at the RUG. In Canada, the study of law is exclusively a graduate study. As a result, I also have an Undergraduate Degree from the University of Toronto. Initially, I planned to go back to Toronto for work after the completion of my study in Groningen. However, I have fallen in love with the city and its walkability/cyclability. As a result, I plan to stay in the city for some time and establish a legal career in Europe. Currently, I am in the process of searching for a legal job. In the meantime, I have lined up some part time work to keep up with expenses. Although surprised, my family is supportive of my decision to stay in Groningen and are willing to act as my financial safety net, if needed. I have been paying 800 EUR for my current SSH accommodation and can provide the receipts. Apart from my study and work-based pursuits, I have kept engaged with hobbies in the city including Salsa and Ballroom dancing. I am also a part of the travel association AEGEE and have taken opportunities to travel across 12 European countries. Additionally, I am currently taking Dutch intensive summer classes. I am 19 years old, from Munich, Germany, and moving to Delft to start my bachelor's in Aerospace Engineering. I am the oldest of four siblings and used to doing my share around the house, such as cooking once a week for my family, doing laundry and helping to clean. I enjoy playing games with them and the fact that I am not often home alone. In year 11 I organised half a year abroad in New Zealand for myself, where I lived with a host family. I am therefore used to settling into a new environment and to living in and respecting someone else's home. Hobby-wise, I love outdoor sports such as mountain biking and kitesurfing. I love playing spikeball, volleyball and football with friends, as well as cooking together, having board game nights and dancing at parties.
