Hi everyone! I’m Nils, 24, and about to start my Master’s degree (Modern and Contemporary History) in Utrecht after wrapping up my Bachelor’s in Political Science and History. I’ve spent the last 10 years working in gastronomy as a bartender and waiter – first in my father's restaurant back in Nuremberg and later while studying in Mainz. It keeps me on my toes, makes me easy to talk to, and taught me how to actually keep things clean without being weird about it. Having lived in WGs for the past 4 years, I know how shared flats work: I completely respect personal space, but I’m always down for cooking together, grabbing a cold beer, or having a good chat in the kitchen (I also love cooking for people while trying out new recipes). When I’m not studying or working, I’m usually into photography, music, and politics. I’ve been more or less active in grassroots politics for years, through which I’ve met incredible people and gained new perspectives, keeping me pretty open-minded and engaged with what’s going on around me. For example, the building where I lived during my 3 years in Zoeterwoude-Dorp was majoritarily inhabited by elderly people, hence I found it a priority to not disturb their peace and maintain a friendly relationship with them. Throughout my 3 years living there, I have never had any issues or disagreements with my landlord or the neighbours. Being an active member of the university football team at Leiden University, I like to spend most of my time, besides studying and working as an online tutor, outdoors. Furthermore, I do not smoke and do not have any pets.
