Dear All, My name is Maxime, I look forward to studying Industrial Engineering at Twente University from this September onwards, and I am therefore looking for welcoming shared apartment in Enschede that I can call home during my studies. I am 19 years old and have lived in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, for the past 18 years, where I attended both English- and German-language schools. I am a German national by origin and therefore often spent my summer holidays in southern Germany, in the Black Forest and the Alpine area south of Munich. Additionally, I’ve travelled to remote parts of the world, particularly in Asia, Europe and the US. I am calm, easy-going and reliable. I fit in easily; I am happy to help and care about creating a home where everyone feels comfortable. At the same time, I am independent and also enjoy spending time on my own. One of my greatest passions is fishing - I was very happy to discover that it is also possible to fish in and around Enschede. For me, fishing includes preparing and cooking the fish afterwards - something family and friends in Abu Dhabi have always enjoyed, and which I would be happy to share with my housemates too. I also love downhill skiing in the Alps and once in Japan, as my challenge is moguls. When skiing in Austria, I always look forward to the traditional dish Kaiserschmarrn. Another passion of mine is solving Rubik’s cubes in all kinds of shapes, sizes and styles—so if anyone in the house ever has a cube that needs solving, I will be happy to help! Also happy to have a round of table tennis together. I also love movies, especially older films with strong stories, meaningful messages, and great acting—for example, Quentin Tarantino's films. Thank you for considering my application! I would love to have a video call to get to know each other and hopefully find that we are the perfect fit. I will also be in Enschede from 7 August onwards and would be happy to meet in person. I look forward to hearing from you. Kind regards, Maxime

Hey there! My name is Patrick van Dijk. I am Dutch-Australian, raised on the Gold Coast in Australia with my parents and two sisters in a household where languages, conversation, and curiosity were just part of daily life. Growing up, watching F.R.I.E.N.D.S and Gilmore Girls almost felt like a kind of religious ritual in our house, and Friday nights were often spent having long, slightly too deep conversations about religion, philosophy, or politics (despite none of us really knowing that much about any of these things). It was a home that was warm, talkative, and very full of ideas, but also clean, structured, and responsible. My dad used to vacuum at 7am on Saturdays, which I definitely found irritating as a kid, but it also instilled in me a strong respect for tidy spaces and the idea that household responsibilities are just part of life, even if I personally prefer pushing the vacuuming to a more reasonable Saturday afternoon. I am moving to Leiden in 2026 to begin my Master’s in International Relations at Leiden University, after completing my BA in History and German at the University of Queensland. I speak English natively, German after three years of university study, Dutch at a conversational to semi-fluent level (and I am very motivated to become fully fluent during my time in Leiden), and a little Spanish from a year of study. I genuinely love languages and what they open up socially and culturally, so I am always excited to meet housemates from different backgrounds, learn new words, and understand how other people see the world. During my undergraduate years, I lived in a residential student complex of around 600 students and worked as a Residential Advisor. That experience taught me how to navigate busy shared living environments, support others when needed, and maintain a calm, respectful, and functional community. It also taught me how important it is to lead by example in small, everyday ways such as keeping shared spaces clean, being considerate of others’ routines, and contributing to a positive atmosphere. In a house, I am very social and genuinely enjoy being part of a shared rhythm of life. I like kitchen conversations that turn into long discussions, shared dinners, and spontaneous moments where people actually connect rather than just pass each other. I will absolutely send you stupid reels I find funny, and I am someone who naturally asks questions about people’s lives, families, interests, and goals for the future. I enjoy getting to know people properly, not just at surface level. At the same time, I am very steady and reliable in how I live. I am someone who is perpetually early, sometimes to a fault, and I tend to get deeply focused on what I am doing, often hyperfixating on study or projects. I also have ADHD and some ongoing chronic health issues, which has made me very intentional about pacing myself, building routines, and maintaining balance in how I live day to day to avoid burnout. Because of this, I am quite structured in practice even if I am naturally energetic and curious. What sums me up best is that my ideal Sunday morning is waking up between 7 and 8, making a big breakfast (perhaps poached eggs, spinach, fried mushrooms and sourdough) and slowly easing into the day around the kitchen table. There would usually be reading, news, and conversation if housemates are around. Later I would take a train somewhere new, visit a museum or gallery, have lunch in a café, and spend time journaling or reading. I would bring my camera and spend a few hours wandering and taking photos of everyday life, then ideally end the day watching the sunset somewhere with a glass of wine, before heading home for a cosy dinner and a film, and being in bed by around 10, ready for the week ahead. What I am looking for is a house that feels alive but also grounded. A place where people share moments in the kitchen, respect each other’s space, and take both fun and responsibility seriously in their own way. I am very comfortable in shared living environments and genuinely enjoy contributing to a household both socially and practically, whether that is cooking, cleaning, or simply being an engaged and present housemate.

I will be studying a MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience at Maastricht University this next academic year and thus, looking for a student room. Thankfully, my parents can act as financial guarantors and will be paying for my rent and all associated costs. I'm an open-minded person who believes in treating people, as well as the space I share with them, with the utmost respect. As a tenant, I'm a reliable cleaner, and I take really good care of things under my responsibility. I'm an easy-going, sociable and active person who loves having a good relationship with my housemates.

My name is Amir, I am half Moroccan, half German and grew up in Frankfurt, Germany. I am studying Politics, Psychology, Law and Economics at UvA and am now moving into my second year. Next to my studies, I work at a boutique hotel on Leidsegracht and am part of a student-led interviewing platform. When Im home, which doesnt happen too often these days, I like to read and relax mostly. I enjoy sharing music as well going to concerts or events of all kinds - from the Matthäus Passion at the Concertgebouw to the Bimhuis jazz club on Tuesdays with my friends or concerts at Paradiso. I also enjoy cooking (although that skill is still very much in development) and I ocassionally supplied my previous floormates with pancakes or some good soup.

Hi! My name is Giovanni, I’m 25 years old and I’m from Milan, Italy. From September, I’ll be moving to Rotterdam to start a Master’s in Data Science at Erasmus University, after completing my studies at Bocconi University in Milan and working for three years in a contemporary art gallery. I’m looking for a single room in a convenient location to commute to university. Ideally, I’d like to move in around the end of August, but I’m flexible with both the move-in date and the rental period. I’ve lived with flatmates for more than five years and have always really enjoyed sharing a home. I’m very tidy, respectful of common spaces, and I always try to make sure the apartment feels clean and comfortable for everyone. I enjoy having a friendly atmosphere at home and I’m always happy to chat, have dinner together, or share a drink from time to time, while also respecting everyone’s privacy and personal space. I’m usually quite active and don’t spend all day at home, as I like going out, doing different activities, and exploring the city. In my free time, I’m passionate about sports and art, and I’m getting more and more into cinema. I don’t smoke and I don’t have pets, but I’m open to living with people who smoke or have animals. I’d be happy to tell you more about myself and arrange a call.
