Ik ben Melissa (28), oorspronkelijk uit Duitsland, en ik start in maart als fulltime onderzoeksassistent aan de Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, waar ik ga werken aan biodiversiteitsthema’s. Mijn contract loopt twee jaar en ik ben op zoek naar een kamer voor langere tijd. Eerder verhuizen (bijvoorbeeld in februari) is voor mij ook mogelijk. Ik heb net mijn studie in Duitsland afgerond en kijk er erg naar uit om mijn eerste “echte” baan in Amsterdam te beginnen. Kleine disclaimer: ik spreek nog geen Nederlands (wel Duits, Engels en Spaans), maar ik heb al eens les gehad en verwacht het redelijk snel op te pakken. Het afgelopen jaar heb ik onderzoek gedaan naar wilde bijen in stedelijke omgevingen.. Ik ben open en vriendelijk, netjes en gewend om samen te wonen. Ik vind het leuk om af en toe samen te eten of te praten, maar kan ook goed mijn eigen ding doen. In mijn vrije tijd sport ik veel, ben ik graag buiten en kook ik regelmatig (meestal vegetarisch/vegan). Omdat mijn vriend in Londen woont, ben ik soms een weekend weg. Hoi, Mijn naam is Rafael, ik ben 50 jaar, geboren in Tienen, België en sinds 2008 woonachtig in Nederland. In die periode ben ik mijn Nederlandse vrouw achterna gereist en met haar getrouwd maar en nu ga ik van haar heen. We groeiden uit elkaar en het enige wat ons nog bindt is onze mooie tweeling van 14 jaar. Het is voor ons belangrijk dat ze zich thuis goed voelen en dat ze zich kunnen blijven ontwikkelen op school. We hebben geen vechtscheiding maar voor de rust te bewaren is het beter dat ik elders ga wonen. Van 2011 tot en met 2021 heb ik gewerkt als privéchef voor een welgestelde familie. Naast mijn werkzaamheden in de keuken was ik verantwoordelijk voor het onderhoud van de woning en de tuin. Tijdens de schoolvakanties stopten mijn werkzaamheden in de keuken en droeg ik zorg voor de woning. Zorgvuldig en betrouwbaar omgaan met andermans eigendommen past bij wie ik ben. Na jaren van intensieve werkdagen in de keuken merkte ik dat dit fysiek steeds zwaarder werd. Door rugklachten heb ik daarom gekozen voor een carrièreswitch. Momenteel werk ik fulltime als ICT’er bij Buckaroo, met 2 tot 3 thuiswerkdagen per week. Na veel rugbehandelingen werd mij aangeraden om meer spieren op te bouwen om rugklachten op te vangen en deze gewoonte ben ik blijven doen waardoor ik nu een sportief leven leid en zelfs met mijn zoon de Utrechtse heuvelrug beklim met de mountainbike. In mijn vrije tijd volg ik graag de culturele agenda van Amsterdam en luister ik veel naar muziek.
