About the place

This studio is in particular available for people who come to do a three month internship at Leiden University or for example ESTEC. For these short term tenants there will be an extra charge for expenses. People who stay longer than four months need to register as a Dutch citizen.

The landlord, a former university employee herself, is available for all questions and issues that come with doing an internship abroad.

Proof that the landlord and the studio exist can be obtained from former occupants and university staff.  (Regrettable that it is apparently necessary to say this.)

This self-contained furnished attic studio apartment with full inventory and a shared front door has been recently thoroughly renovated. Thick roof insulation and double glazing have been installed. The living/sleeping area is 24 square meters and includes a kitchen. The kitchen is a new, luxury kitchen, 2.25 meters wide, equipped with a dishwasher, refrigerator, electric cooktop, microwave, recirculating extractor hood, sink, two lower cabinets, and four upper cabinets. The room has two Velux windows and is connected to a central ventilation system. There is central heating as well as an additional electric heater and a portable air conditioning unit.

The apartment has a private shower room (4 square meters) with a sink, mirror, and Velux window. There is a private toilet room (4 square meters) which also houses the washing machine and dryer. This room also has a Velux window. The use of the washing machine and dryer is shared with the homeowner, who tries to do the laundry when the Tennant is not in.

It is not permitted to move large furniture in or out of the apartment. The living/sleeping area is furnished with an Auping bed (1.40 meters wide) with a three-year-old washable Ikea mattress, a coat rack, a full-length mirror, a wardrobe, a 2.5-seater sofa, coffee table, low cabinet, adjustable desk, and desk chair. The shower room has an antique cabinet and a laundry basket.

The front door, hallway, and staircase are shared with the homeowner, and there is a house rule that outdoor shoes are not worn inside. Shoes must be taken off at the front door and carried upstairs. Another house rule:  There is no smoking allowed in this house or within a 5 meter radius around this house.

There is space in the front garden to park a bicycle or scooter under a shelter. The studio comes with the use of a bicycle. Parking in the street and neighborhood is free, with plenty of available space. The Winkelhof shopping mall is within walking distance, where there is also a bus stop.
