About the place

For a vacant office building in Houten that is awaiting redevelopment, we are looking for one quiet, reliable and technically skilled resident.

You will have your own spacious private room within the building. As the property is being used temporarily, we are looking for someone who understands that this is simple and flexible accommodation and who is willing to help with occasional practical jobs in and around the building.

A shower unit still needs to be installed in the property. We will purchase and provide all required materials. We are therefore particularly interested in someone with proven experience in plumbing, sanitary installations, carpentry, assembly work or general maintenance.

The shower unit must be properly installed and checked before the accommodation is fully put into use.

Other tasks may include:

– carrying out small repairs and maintenance work;
– installing or assembling fixtures and facilities;
– helping to keep the property tidy and safe;
– identifying and reporting technical issues;
– occasionally providing access to contractors or technicians.

What do we offer?

For the first six months, you will only pay a limited contribution towards the actual utility and service costs. Separate and clear arrangements will be made regarding the practical work you carry out.

The building is currently expected to remain available for temporary use for approximately three years. As the property will eventually be redeveloped, we cannot guarantee a minimum period of residence. The accommodation will be provided under a flexible temporary occupancy agreement, similar to an anti-squatting arrangement.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who is independent, tidy, responsible and has demonstrable practical experience.

You understand that you will be living temporarily in a former office building and that the facilities are more basic than those of a regular home.

Experience with installing sanitary facilities, plumbing or shower units is a strong advantage. Any work requiring specialist qualifications or certification will be carried out by a recognised professional.
