Kennemerboulevard
About the place
Temporary living on a historic houseboat (10 February – 10 April) We are looking for one person or a couple who would like to live on our special houseboat by the sea from 10 February until 10 April, while we are travelling during that period. The ship is our home. That is why we are not looking for a regular tenant, but for someone we can meet personally, trust, and feel comfortable entrusting this place to. This is a unique opportunity to live on the water for two months, in a place where nature, quiet and space come together – only 30 minutes from Amsterdam. About the ship The ship is a historic vessel that once operated as a river cruise ship for 150 passengers and has since been converted into a spacious, light-filled and atmospheric floating home. You live here with 360-degree views all around, with the beach and the Kennemer Dunes nature reserve within walking distance. Inside, everything is in place for comfortable living: a fully equipped kitchen, shower, bath, heating, and a pleasant bedroom with a double bed. Upstairs there is a lovely sitting area and music room with a piano, with French doors opening onto the deck – a place to read, make music, look out over the water and enjoy sun, wind and space. Good to know (what living on a ship is like) Living on a ship is special – and a little different from living in a house on land. We are looking for someone who ideally already has experience with this, or at least feels completely comfortable with it and does not see it as an inconvenience, but as part of the experience: • The toilet and shower work with pumps; toilet paper goes into a separate bin. • There is a 600-litre water tank that you refill yourself using the tap on the jetty. • Cooking and the shower geyser run on gas; if the gas bottle runs out, you should be able to replace it yourself. • Electricity is more than sufficient for normal use, but heavy appliances cannot be used at the same time. If a fuse trips by accident, you will need to reset it on the jetty. • Wi-Fi works well most of the time, but may occasionally drop out at sea. • During storms you may feel the ship move; the vessel is large and stable, but it is different from a house. • There is no TV on board. There is, however, a large screen to connect your laptop for your own “home cinema.” • Parking at the harbour is paid; we provide one personal parking card, which must be returned after your stay. Selection & viewing day (important) • The only possible viewing and introduction day is 8 February. • We will only select people we have met in person on that day. • A decision will also be made that day. • Responding only makes sense if you are able to visit and decide on 8 February. We make this choice carefully and consciously, because this is our home. If this feels like something that suits you – and you feel you can be here in the right way – we would love to hear from you.
