About the place
About me and the house I live in the lovely village of old-Koog aan de Zaan, which is part of Zaanstad. My name is Simon and I’m looking for a new housemate. You will be living with me and one other male housemate. The house was built in 1931 and is full of character, with exposed beams and lots of stained glass windows. The house is largely insulated, the majority of windows are double glazed. There is gas central heating, as well as a log burner. Shared living spaces include a large living room (21 m2) and a dining room (18 m2), which also functions as an office. There is a kitchen, toilet and root cellar on the ground floor. Upstairs, there is a bathroom with shower and toilet. Outside, there is a large, enclosed garden with a very old pear tree and a garage, where you can store a bike. On offer is a spacious furnished room (17 m2 room and a closet of 2 m2), which currently contains a double bed, an antique desk, sitting area and wardrobe with drawers. In the room you have your own sink. The room has two adjoined windows to the rear of the house. Also, from the room you have a lovely view of the Kogerkerk (the local church) and you look out over the garden. Ammenities The nearest supermarket (Albert Heijn XL) is about 200 m away, other supermarkets are also close. The centre of oud-Koog is around the corner, with a clothing store, a bike shop, two lunchrooms, an Indonesian and a Thai restaurant among other shops. We live very close to the Zaan river. The local tourist attraction, the Zaanse Schans, with very old wind mills, is a 5 minute bike ride away. Also, the city centre of Zaandam has lots of shops and is a 10 minute bike ride away. We have a doctor and dentist within walking distance. The local park (Kogerpark) is a 5 minute walk. Mobility Koog aan de Zaan has its own train station which is about an 8 - 10 minute walk from the home. From here, the train will take you to Amsterdam Central station in 15 minutes! There are several bus stops around as well. We are also located near highway A8 (2 min drive to the nearest ramp) and there is free parking in the street and the neighbourhood. Profile I am looking for a (international) student enrolled in university or someone who is employed. Preferably someone is tidy, considerate and serious about their studies / work. You don't always have to be social, but I would like to get to know you a little bit and have a weekly housemate dinner together! I like learning about different cultures and customs. Notes Our neighbourhood is quiet, but I do wake up early, between 05:30 - 06:00 on Monday to till Saturday but I will make sure to be quiet. Contract details - The maximum stay is 1 year - Registration with municipality possible - Rotating cleaning schedule (housemates take turns) - House rules apply, consent from landlord necessary for guest overnight stays. - Do not want a smoker and no smoking anywhere but outside. - Heating: the thermostat is set no higher than 19°C, normally set at 17°C, possible to heat your own room more using electricity
